Ms ML has been a Chinese tutor for 5 years. She
was a Chinese relief teacher at a leading primary school for a year, and also
teaches Chinese at a tuition centre. Ms ML graduated from NUS, majoring in

MOE requirements for Chinese exams
The MOE states that in preparations for students
to take Chinese exams, “It does not lock students into a fixed curriculum from
the outset.”
Almost all students go through this – some
concepts in Chinese start to get confusing because we have not been able to
catch up with the teacher’s lessons in class.
We go home, read and re-read the notes, the
worksheets, and do some research on the internet after our classmates tell us
on whatsapp chat that they too are feeling lost.
We tried, took the exam, and then our Chinese results
are returned to us. Not a good grade.
