MOE requirements for Literature exams
The MOE states that some of the objectives for the
Literature syllabus are to:
- Demonstrate, through close
analysis, knowledge of the literary texts studied
- Respond with knowledge
and understanding to a variety of literary texts of different forms
- Demonstrate understanding
of the ways in which writers’ choices of form, structure and language
shape meanings
- Communicate a sensitive
and informed personal response to what is read; and
- Express responses clearly
and coherently, using textual evidence where appropriate.
Almost all students go through this – some
concepts in Literature start to get confusing because we have not been able to
catch up with the teacher’s lessons in class.
We go home, read and re-read the notes, the
worksheets, and do some research on the internet after our classmates tell us
on whatsapp chat that they too are feeling lost.
We tried, took the exam, and then our Literature results
